CVM Autopark's History

Serving the automotive needs of our community since 1971, Cumberland Valley Motors began primarily as a BMW dealership. In 1974 we were awarded a Subaru franchise, a little known small Japanese car manufacturer that began importing to the USA at the onset of the gas crisis in the 1970s. Our growth continued in 1984 with the purchase a defunct Dodge franchise from Chrysler Corporation, who at that time were rebuilding from the verge of bankruptcy. As the founder and patriarch of CVM, Ed Ullom's vision has always been a unique one filled with courage and adventure. When others said it could not be done, Ed believed and persevered.

 

His dream took a new shape when in 1987 Ed Ullom built what was the crowning jewel of the Carlisle Pike by designing the ultimate BMW and Subaru dealership. No one had ever seen a car dealership that was so luxurious and innovative with the revolutionary concept of separate showrooms for different car franchises plus multiple customer lounge areas located right in the showrooms. CVM became the Central Pennsylvania leader in luxury car sales and service and to reflect our expansion and diversity we acquired a new name - CVM Autopark.

 

As CVM Autopark has grown we have also incurred many changes. We added Volkswagen to our mix in 1997 and in 2003 we sold our BMW franchise which by that time had grown to occupy a separate state of the art complex. The reason for the sale of BMW was twofold. It permitted the restructuring of our family organization and allowed us to shift our focus from luxury cars to family focused vehicles. With Subaru, Dodge and Volkswagen our model selection now has something for everyone. We have a broader and more universal appeal while we move into the next phase of our automotive adventure.

 

Envisioning, believing in and pursuing a dream when others have a difficult time seeing it is what has made CVM unique. We are willing to take risks to achieve our goals and to provide a superior product for our clients. It is this steadfast adherence to innovaton and quality that has made CVM an enduring and successful dealership.

 

Through the hard work and dedication of our team we have grown and expanded our business and our share of the new and used vehicle market of Central PA. We are always looking to the future and are excited about the prospects for the continued growth of the CVM Autopark brand.
